미국인들도 고향을 그리워하는 마음은 우리와 다를 바 없다. 그들이 
가장 좋아하는 고향노래가 존 덴버가 부른 'Take Me Home Country 
Road'이다. 1971년의 앨범 'Poems, Prayers & Promises'에 수록되어 
빌보드 싱글차트 2위에 올랐고 우리나라에서도 대단한 인기를 끌었다. 
최정상의 포크 & 팝 싱어에다 작곡은 물론 기타의 달인으로 300곡이 
넘는 (그 중 반 이상을 직접 작곡) 노래를 불러 사랑받던 그는 자신이 
몰던 자가용 비행기 사고로 53세 아까운 나이에 팬들의 곁을 떠났다.
