1952년에 개봉된 Zimmerman감독의 영화 "High Noon"은 우리 고교시절에 본 서부영화중 아주 깊게 우리를 감동시킨 영화이다. "누구를 위하여 종을 울리나"에서 이미 우리의 마음을 빼았어 갔었던 게리 쿠퍼의 묵직한 연기를 잊을수가 없고 앳띈 아내 그레이스 켈리를 기억 한다. 이 주제가는 "The Ballad of High Noon"이라고도 불리우며 영화의 opening에서 나오기 시작하면서 이영화의 이야기를 알려준다. Dimitri Tiomkin이 작곡하였고 Ned Washington이 작사하였다. 그당시 인기절정의 country singer였으며 배우였던 Tex Ritter가 부른것이 영화에서 쓰여졋다. 이곡은 그해 아카데미의 original song 수상곡이였으며, 영화음악에서 주제가의 역활이 크다는 것을 인식 시켜준 계기를 만들어 주었다.
