I like to share this you tube with you. The coming weekend will be the 1st anniversary of Japan earthquake and
tsunami in 2011.
Dear friend of mine forward this YouTube performance to me with a short
foot note in Japanese. By listening to it, my tear wailed up all the through
by listening to this beautiful great music and seeing 10,000 people singing
the chorus in unison.
They endure historic catastrophe brought in by cruel nature. Yet they are able to
stand up firmly and sing together to express their determination to bounce back
and rebuild the nation.
I saw many people in chorus had tear in their cheek. I am also deeply moved by
the fact that so many young people spend good portion of their life and effort to
master the art of playing musical instrument, which enable them to participate
in this grand performance. I am sure both music player and chorus members did
countless rehearsals to achieve this magnificent event. I felt that at all the places
in the world, only ever gracious and cohesive Japanese people can come up with
such a moving expression! of longing for healing and hope. I like to deeply salute
them all. I thank my friend and would like to share with you all. ST
The Japanese have been in love with Beethoven's 9th for a century
and more. Toshio's generation college students , practically all,
have the Ode of Joy memorized in German.
This concert was in Sendai, a city in the area of the earthquake/
tsunami....they certainly needed an uplifting Event.
